1.) Building Connections with Literary Learners with Multiple Disabilities and Visual Impairments
 
A teacher must build and emotional connection with students with multiple disabilities and visual impairments for learning to occur.  Attendees will engage in an interactive workshop in which they will learn about and discuss assessments and best practices for students with multiple disabilities and visual impairments.

​2.) Best Practices for Communication Starting with Objects, Tangible Symbols and Progressing through Simple to Complex Switches for Learners with Multiple Disabilities and Visual Impairments
 
Students with multiple disabilities and visual impairments progress from simple to complex learning for communication systems.  In this hands-on workshop, attendees will learn about and engage with the progression of communication learning: objects, tangible symbols, cause and effect switches, step-by-step switches, 2-switch systems, switches in conjunction with Board Marker software and switches in conjunction with Go Talk app.

3.) How to Make Tangible Symbols +Discuss Useful Materials and Resources for Learners with Multiple Disabilities and Visual Impairments
 
Students with multiple disabilities and visual impairments use tangible symbols to communicate, build schedules and complete cognitive-based learning tasks.  In this hands-on workshop, attendees will learn how to make tangible symbols using the method from Perkins School for the Blind.

4.) Best Practices for Working with the IEP Team: A Particular Focus on Working with Challenging Teachers/ Providers and Parents
 
One of the hardest parts of being a special education teacher is working together cohesively with the IEP team.  Particularly, some members of the team can be challenging to work with.  In this interactive workshop, attendees will learn about, problem solve and discuss how to work well as an IEP team.

5.) Horticulture Therapy for Learners with Multiple Disabilities and Visual Impairments
